Churn Rate shows the percentage of users who stopped using a product or service over a certain period.
Simple example: If you had 1,000 active users at the beginning of the month, and 100 quit by the end, your churn rate is 10%.
It’s the opposite of retention — not who stayed, but who left.
Formula:
Churn Rate = (Users lost ÷ Users at start) × 100%
Why it matters:
- Helps you see how well you keep your users.
- A high churn rate could signal product or support issues.
- It’s a key metric to measure business health and forecast growth.
iGaming example: If an online casino had 5,000 players and 500 stopped playing — the churn rate for the month is 10%.
