What Is a Postback URL
Glossary
A postback URL is a signal your affiliate program sends to your tracker every time a user completes an action — like registering or making a deposit. Think of it as: “Hey tracker, we’ve got a conversion. Log it!”
How it works:
- You connect your tracker to the affiliate program via postback.
- A user clicks your link → goes to the offer.
- Takes an action (like an FTD).
- The affiliate network sends a postback to your tracker.
- The tracker logs the conversion with all the right data.
Why you need it:
- Sends conversion data automatically
- Helps track what campaign, ad, or traffic source converted
- Without it, you’ll be flying blind or counting manually
Postback can include:
- Type of action (signup, deposit, etc.)
- Time, user ID
- Payout amount
- Custom parameters
Heads up: Every network has its own postback format — always follow their setup guide.
