Spain’s Online Gambling Industry Posts Strong YoY Growth in Q2 2025

Spain’s digital gambling scene had a solid second quarter this year: revenues climbed to about €410 million, up nearly 19% year-over-year, according to the latest data from the Directorate General for Gambling Regulation (DGOJ).

What’s driving that surge? Two verticals in particular are powering ahead:

  • Online casinos pulled in around €216 million, with slot games being the breakout star — they surged more than 30% YoY. Table games like blackjack and roulette also contributed, though their growth was much more modest.
  • Sports betting wasn’t far behind, generating about €171 million. That figure is almost 20% higher than in Q2 2024, reflecting increased player engagement especially via live betting options.c

Some other interesting markers:

  • Deposits reached €1.35 billion, withdrawals were close to €963 million — both roughly in line with Q1.
  • Spain saw 500,000+ new accounts in this quarter, although that number is slightly lower than in Q1.
  • Marketing spend: operators invested nearly €165 million to acquire new players. Emerging formats — like “mystery boxes” — are getting attention.

On the flip side, poker and bingo are lagging: poker revenue dropped to about €19 million (-25% YoY), and bingo fell to around €3 million. These are shrinking fractions of the total compared to the more active casino and sports betting sectors.

What Affiliates Should Take from This

  • Slots are where the momentum is. If you promote casino verticals, make sure your offers heavily feature slots.
  • Sports betting (especially live betting) still matters. It’s nearly 40–45% of total revenue, so it’s not going anywhere.
  • Keep an eye on marketing spend and emerging formats. “Mystery boxes” and similar innovative product types may be good angles to experiment with.
  • Declining verticals like poker and bingo: don’t abandon them entirely, but be cautious about expecting growth there.

If this keeps up, Spain looks like it’s going to remain one of the more stable and growing markets in Europe for iGaming. The huge wins will go to the affiliates and operators who lean into slots, live betting, and smart product innovation.
